Bamboo Wood Flooring

It's a very unique type of wood flooring that has become immensely popular over the last couple of years in different parts of the world. This popularity is mainly because of the appearance and hardness that bamboo wood flooring can offer. A lot of flooring manufacturers are turning to using bamboo to create exotic flooring patterns, which comprise of various accents, borders and other designs. Bamboo forests are primarily found in China’s Hunan province.

It's also very friendly to the environment, as bamboo is actually a type of grass. Bamboo can also be replenished as well as harvested even on damaged soil. Also, it only takes around three to five years so that bamboo could mature. Try to compare this to the other types of hardwoods, which takes some 50 to 100 years to mature. It is highly a renewable source and we can also almost safely assume that they would be available in stable prices even years from now. Bamboo is also a lot like wood with its color and form. Bamboo wood flooring is surprisingly almost as tough and strong as steel.

Additionally, bamboo wood flooring could also come in all kinds of unique and striking patterns and colors such as dark and light wood, honey, and amber as well as other natural wood colors. The dark color of bamboo wood is achieved through a process of pressure steaming and carbonization. The patterns could be vertical or flat grain. Bamboo flooring could also be floated or nailed. There are also bamboo flooring panels sold which come pre-finished or unfinished.

Another good thing is that it can resist dents nearly as well as oak wood. Bamboo wood is also very stable. It has a general thickness of 1/2, 3/4 or 5/8 inches and a width of around three to four inches. The length of bamboo panels could differ from two to six feet so their design could be very creative.

Fortunately this type also requires very easy installation. The profiles could be strips, panels or tongue and groove. They could be glued or nailed or floated or installed on plywood.

Finally, it is extremely easy and cheap to maintain. It does not require any staining or re-staining because it achieves its color during the manufacturing process. And so, bamboo is considered a truly cheap and beautiful alternative to hardwood flooring.
